Mammoth Lakes

So I had my second 'overnighter' trip with my HOG group - and it was a blast.  We went to Mammoth Lakes and I had my first look at Yosemite.  I know, I know.  I was raised in the Bay Area and had never been to Yosemite - well I can't say that now.

So I had my second 'overnighter' trip with my HOG group - and it was a blast.  We went to Mammoth Lakes and I had my first look at Yosemite.  I know, I know.  I was raised in the Bay Area and had never been to Yosemite - well I can't say that now.

The trip was a roundabout way into Mammoth Lakes (of course--remember, if you are even in a hurry to get someplace, don't ask a biker for directions.)  We had gorgeous views, beautiful mountains and meadows, and great roads (except for a brief 'pavement ends' stretch in Yosemite, but I made it).

Our room kind of sucked.  No, it didn't KIND of suck, it DID suck.  The bathroom was basically all one level - there was a tile floor, a shower in the corner, a drain in the floor and it flooded.  There was a sink and a toilet of course, but no place to put anything (like shampoo, soap, etc).  I called it "the bike wash" so ride on in and we'll wash your bike for you...and it gets even better.  It had an adjoining door...NEXT TO THE TOILET.  Can you imagine - "oops sorry about that....didn't realize you were indisposed...."

The good part about it was it was right by the pool which we took advantage of on Friday.  Saturday it rained/thundered so that was out.  All in all, it was a gorgeous ride and a great way to spend my birthday weekend!
