Tis' the Season to Use Enormous Cookware

December 19, 2005

As I was cleaning up the kitchen after a second weekend of holiday frenzied food favorites, I was needing to hand wash a lot of the pots and bowls used...they are just too large for my dishwasher. Then I realized it: The holidays bring out the most enormous pots, pans, bowls, trays -- you name it -- that we have in our kitchens!

My tamale pot is at least 10 gallons. It is this enormous alumninum thing that is so huge, it competely hangs over the burner on my stove. It sports a false bottom which holds about a gallon of water under it to steam the tamales. It is so large, I have to store it in my shed outside - along with other enormous cookware used for canning tomatoes. Okay, maybe canning season lends itself to huge cookware too...anyhow, happy holidays to you and yours and thanks for visiting this crazy site.
