The Grammys - Viva La Vida

It's been more than 20 years since I gave a rat's posterior about the Grammys or any awards....but then again I had an unusual year and got back into listening to music - and found there is good music still out there even for old people like me.  I was driving home from a craft class one night and heard this most unusual song come on...and I was hooked...

What the heck was it?  It sounded orchestral with a rhythm to it that just captivated me.  I wished my darn speakers worked better in my 15 year old truck, but not a priority...lucky for me the radio station backannounced what the song was - something called Viva La Vida by Coldplay.  Okay I made a note - Coldplay - and went home to find it.

Found it, I did.  I downloaded it and then started listening to pandora radio and found a bunch more of their songs and liked them, so I did something I hadn't done in years.  I bought a CD....the whole thing!  Not one ofmy little 99 cent iTunes purchases I usually do. 

When I heard they were up for some grammys, I got all excited, so excited, I had to play Viva La  Vida for my mom!  She liked it too...said "now that's music!"  I think my friends may think I have taken a temporary leave of sanity but hey, I'm a musician at heart and am inspired by great sounds like this. 

So I DVR'd the grammys so I could fast forward through what I didn't want to see/hear, cranked up the surround sound, and was delighted with their live performance of Viva La Vida (even though they skipped the second verse - time).  I wish they had skipped Chris singing Lost with that #$@@!~! rapper - if they had done that, we could have gotten the whole song I bet.

Best song of the year - Viva La Vida - WOOOO!  They won it!  How long has it been since ANYTHING I liked won a grammy?  Too long... 

AND THEN I found out they had announced a US tour and are heading here to the Shoreline Ampitheater on MY BIRTHDAY!!!   I hope I can go....I hope I can go...$$$$$.

Okay I'm done behaving like a teenager now...nice to get this exited over music again.  Found an acoustic version of it on YouTube where Chris is singing and playing the keyboard.  Having a little trouble with some notes but it was a live/acoustic deal on a radio station. 

I think I'm obsessed...heh.  Oh well.  Just jazzed.
