The New Visitor
August 31, 2023
We had to say goodbye to Brutus on August 21st. He was going downhill fast and his quality of life was pretty bad. This left Augustus out in the back yard, alone. Yesterday, a young, gray tabby appeared in our back yard and Augustus was so happy to see "another one of those furry things" that he approached the kitty happily. Kitty was perplexed...had never seen such a 'big bug.'
The view through the back door
Augustus got pretty close but the kitty wasn't having it. A few minutes later, the kitty was back, and curious about Augustus, who was then heading into his corner for the night. He chose the base of a bush that is under the bedroom window. The kitty watched him go to sleep for the night, then disappeared.
There are a few cats who roam the neighborhood. Brutus was extremely territorial (that's why he was outside) and I'm sure 'the word will get out' that there is a nice backyard to lounge in - that has an interesting shelled creature who is friendly and harmless.
My husband said "Don't you dare feed that cat!"
Would I do such a thing?
