Total Knee Replacement - Day 9
December 28, 2019
I meant to start blogging about this sooner...but I've felt so crappy up to this poi it may have had 5000 miles left on it. I was terrified and put off the inevitable, using glucosamine and tumeric - and cortisone shots - to control the pain, and then it went off the rails again. The "Hail Mary" approach was a remedy called Suppartz - which is a gel they inject once a week for 3 weeks made of chicken combs. This was great for about one day each time I received an injection. But, by August, it was obvious I needed the Real Deal.

Finally, the date was scheduled for December 19th with hopes of a cancellation before that (which didn't happen). I was scared but in good hands. They gave me a spinal block and sedative drip which was a nice way to go.
After the procedure I was in good shape until all of the numby stuff left my system around 2am the following Saturday. Then It. Was. On. I had never felt pain like that in my entire life! It was bad both Saturday and Sunday, which were PO days 3 and 4, and then it started subsiding.
The PT is painful - straightening in particular - but I have to do the exercises so I make a full recovery. It's so important to follow the orders - and if you have to take that opiod stuff, taking the laxatives etc is a must Staying ahead of it is the key! So, on Day 9, my husband has just presented me with some French Toast so I must go. I'll keep blogging here. Cheers!
nt...I had lots of knee pain since about February 2018. It was finally determined, months and months later after an MRI, that if my left knee had been a tire,
