My Winning Fair Exhibit
June 24, 2007
For many years, I have attended our
Alameda County Fair and have always been delighted by the Hobby Exhibits. I decided to finally do my own, and guess what, it won!
The display started out as a 49er Memorabilia display but soon took on something else--heart. It became "A Tribute to my Father and the Team he loved." There are so many elements in it that are about him - the pic of he and Hall of Famer, Dave Wilcox. The picture of my dad opening his shirt under his suit revealing a 49er shirt and making it into a Christmas Card "Merry Christmas from the Happiest Guy in the Company."
I think my cousin put it best in his beautiful e-mail to me after seeing the
pictures I posted online:
"What a fantastic job you have done with the display for the fair. I see a person that really loves the no only the 49'ers, but a person that can see past the Sunday games and the players. You see that this fine NFL team is a passport for a foundation of family values. Football is more then just a Sunday afternoon event. There are alot of lessons learned from football, one dose not have to play the game personally.
Marian, I am proud of the display you have built for all to see. I hope that someone from the NFL sees your work and incorporates it into some type of showcase.
Your display reminds me of the poster that was given out during the fifty anniversary of the 49'ers. Your work has so much more. It is something that I see visitors will stand at your booth and be there for hours looking at each and very detail of each of the items.
Well Done.
I plan to take one of the pictures and make it the wallpaper on my laptop."
What more can I say?
