It's Beginning To Look a Lot Like...

December 2, 2021

Hard to believe the way 2021 flew through.  Sort of did a 'touch and go' and now it's coming back to hit the runway couple more times before flying off.  My sister, who came to dinner to visit our campsite a couple of times last summer saw this great RV inflatable and got it for us.  The door opens, Santa peeks out, and then goes back in, closing the door once more...reminded my sister of our glamping which we love to do each summer.

2021 has been a year of change and growth for me, personally.  I made a major lifestyle change in March andwhat I thought it was going to be very difficult - and parts were - has opened up new horizons and given me a new lease on life.  I wake up insanely early every day because I'm so excited about what every day is going to bring - it's like Christmas Morning every morning.

I've picked up where I left off in a lot of ways - reclaimed my creativity and when it first 'landed', it was like a raging river that I had to get control of.  It is still pretty powerful, but I've learned to keep it flowing in a healthy way that doesn't knock me over and pull me into its undercurrent.

Taking my classes at Ohlone has helped me channel this powerful river; I took Introduction to Web Design and 3D Art and am finishing up the latter.  The Web Design class ended in October, and I passed with flying colors.  It was a class that counts towards my degree, and while I've been doing this stuff for a quarter century, I had never had the opportunity to learn it in a 'linear' manner.  It was always "Client wants this, make it happen" which - 3 or 4 google searches and visits to StackOverflow later - I had a product, but not the proper steps to get there.  So learning and building on what I've learned was a great experience, and I signed up for the advanced course in the Spring Semester.  I'm applying some of what I've learned on this site.

This site is still a mess in places, but during my early hours each day, I work on parts of it.  Today it's posting this news story, fixing my featured humor link problems on the home page (those links have lots of parameters that talk to my display script) and the running my meeting for my aforementioned lifestyle change, as I do on Thursdays.

I'm making a point of keeping this funny website updated, and I've built it so I can do so right from my phone.  That helps...

As this website approaches its 25th birthday (as of this writing), I hope it is around with me at the helm for another 25 years.  If my family longevity has anything to do with it, it will be so.

Happy holidays, everyone who got this far to read this mess!
