A kitty with no hair...

February 11, 2024

I have been a rabid cat lover for years!  I had my first cat in 1984 and the rest is history!  I had met a sphynx about 15 years ago at a cat show and was intrigued.  I decided I'd see if I could have one join our family.  The day came on February 10, 2024, and she has named herself Lila.

It was sort of an act of fate how Lila came into our lives.  I was looking around on a cat site and was taken aback by the price tags on such kitties.  I've never been a person to get a kitty other than from a shelter, rescue, or if one found me, so to speak.  This lovely lady needed a home, the lady who had her had bred them for a while but wasn't a professional breeder.  She had the grandparents and parents of this lovely lady, who was born April 20, 2023.

Long story short, she texted me, and the conversation began, starting with her location - Fontana, CA, a 6 hour drive, but she would meet me halfway.  I do NOT like road trips (unless it's on my Harley) but arrangements were made, and we drove down to get her on that sunny Saturday morning.

Lila was pensive at first, but it took her maybe 10 minutes to settle down in the car.  Once she settled down, in her favorite blanket that had been provided, she turned into a purring machine.  Getting a "love attack" by a hairless little kitty is taking some getting used to - but in that sense, she's no different than our other kitties.

She will need to be bathed frequently, and special attention taken to make sure she doesn't get cold.  She has a few shirts and I'm crocheting her a sweater.  She has some hair on her ears, but other than that, NOTHING.  Not even whiskers or eyelashes!  She has one pink toebean which I just love!

My sister was horrified when she saw her and didn't like her, but I think that will change.  Sheesh.  Talk about judging someone on looks!  The little thing has a big personality, and she's holding back right now, but I think there are going to be some great relationships unfolding with the other kitties.  Welcome, Lila!
